Admission notes

A SaaS platform that couldn't show its product

Koya DocuTracker sells document management software to enterprises. Their site explained the product but couldn't demonstrate its value fast enough - visitors bounced before they ever saw a demo.

The situation

  • SaaS document management platform targeting mid-market enterprises
  • Product-led growth model relying on free trials and demo requests
  • Competing in a space where speed and trust signal quality
  • Site needed to educate visitors and convert them into trial users quickly

What stood in the way

  • Pricing page taking 11+ seconds to load - trial users abandoned before seeing pricing
  • Feature pages buried in technical jargon with no clear value proposition
  • No structured data for SaaS-specific search features
  • Onboarding flow disconnected from the marketing site - drop-off at the handoff
  • Thin blog content with no topical authority on document management

Scope

  • Lazy loading for complex data visualisations
  • Authentication flow performance improvements

Read this carefully

The 11.3s baseline is a Lighthouse lab test of the pricing page. The 0.7s is field data for the homepage. Different page, different measurement - a like-for-like re-run of /pricing would close the loop.

Still on the list

Lab performance sits at 62: render-blocking requests (~280ms), 240KiB unused JavaScript, 15KiB unused CSS and 4 long main-thread tasks all remain open.

The unglamorous part

The problems that don't fit in a pitch deck

Most of this engagement was infrastructure nobody sees. It's also the reason the rest worked.

JavaScript-heavy frontend

The SPA framework loaded 480KB of JavaScript before showing any content - the pricing page was a blank screen for over five seconds on 4G.

Pricing page as a bottleneck

The highest-intent page on the site was also the slowest, with product screenshots, comparison tables and a contact form all loading synchronously.

Disconnected trial flow

The marketing site and the product dashboard ran on separate domains with different performance profiles - the handoff felt broken to users.

Zero topical authority

Blog posts were sporadic and thin - no content clusters around document management, compliance or enterprise workflows.

No structured data

Missing SoftwareApplication schema meant the product couldn't appear in rich results or comparison queries.

Enterprise trust signals absent

No case studies, no security certifications displayed, no SOC 2 badges - the site couldn't reassure the compliance-conscious buyers it was targeting.
